Robert Scoble, a very well known social media blogger just went through this list of 70 start-ups and said:
I just visited every one of these companies. Boy do they almost all suck (at least their Web sites and if their sites suck, I can’t believe their products are going to do much better).
Then Loic Lemeur, CEO of Seesmic, commented that Scoble should not have made these comments about these start-ups prior to their launch. He argued that a company website does say anything about the company, but it’s the product that defines them. I tend to agree. There is a great thread on the conversation on Friendfeed here. Like I said, Scoble may have worked at a few start-ups in his career but he’s never actually started a company and until you have the experience yourself it’s not really your place to criticize those actually starting a company.
