Why I would be a good addition to the ThinkTank conference
I submitted this to a contest to get a “free ride” to attend the ThinkTank conference in San Diego. The question was, why would you add value to the conference. Here’s why…
(I hope I didn’t get to this to late, as I just found out about ThinkTank today)
I care about start ups:
When it comes to startups I care. I co-founded ActionsTalk.com, a startup spotlight site that interviews and brings attention to startups. The whole point of the site is for my co-founder and I to meet and get to know how and why people run startups. I spend 8-10 hours a week currently with no fiscal return. I do it because I love helping start-up founders and I love learning their stories and experiences. Straight up, I love this stuff.
I have a process background and all businesses need process:
I currently work at GE Healthcare in an IT Management training program. I am constantly thinking ‘process improvement’. Whether a startup company likes it or not, as they grow they will have to implement processes. I do that every day and I can talk to how and why processes are implemented into a business. I understand, first hand, the pains of being “over processed”, but I also see how that process focus can help a business team operate effectively and profitably.
I will listen:
I’m 25 years old and I fully realize that I have A LOT to learn. ThinkTank will be packed with guru’s and I can’t wait to keep my ears and eyes wide open during this event. One of the most valuable assets someone can have, in my opinion, is the ability to listen and it’s something that I focus on all the time. Many people who have a lot of experience think that they don’t need to learn or listen…they are wrong. I will learn a ton, contribute a ton, and add to the overall value of ThinkTank.
I can’t wait to win! Regardless of the outcome I hope that you guys have a blast at the event and I hope that the attendees take away something of extreme value. Talk to you guys soon!
