@Greg
Awesome thought. I've been thinking about companies like Zappos, Virgin, and
even GE. All of these companies have a culture that allows them to succeed
in many different industries and businesses.

Would love to hear what experience you or other readers have in building and
developing a company culture. How do you force and attitude?

Cheers,
Ryan

there are some terrific resources in there. i think the only thing that is missing is the need to focus on developing a company culture and identity early. without a good culture, the smartest people in the world will fail. i wish there was a URL that had the answer to this. :)

@Tiho
I totally agree, a team is mission critical and you may have a point for it
being in the first 25 steps to building a startup. The way I saw it was that
these other things might come first before having the opportunity to build a
team.

It's often tough to build a team without money, you can only give away so
much equity! I think that a better step to include within the first 25 steps
is find a co-founder. This helps you test your idea and collaborate when
problems do arise.

I really appreciate your comment! What do you think is more important first,
team or co-founder?

What about hiring/working with the best available team? Joining/starting a start-up is like running up a high and unpredictable mountain with a mountain top above the clouds. The view is amazing at the top but to get there you need dedication and a synchronized team effort. A great support team comprised of people who've done that before or who are simply A+ players is of great help.
