Everyone dreams about what they would ‘ideally’ do with their lives. Everyone has ideas of how they could improve their life in order to live their dreams. Don’t you want more meaningful relationships, more social influence, and a thicker wallet? You and I will both will always be interested in how we can improve our professional situation, seek more adventure, and help those in need. Those interests and the processes leading to the fulfillment of them, are THE DREAM IN ACTION.

Recently, there has been a gradual shift on this blog. A month ago the official name of the blog changed from Ryan A Graves.com to THE DREAM IN ACTION.com.

This shift occurred because the site, as Ryan A Graves.com was lacking focus, and hitting a traffic ceiling. After consultation with many people behind dynamic, fast growing sites and brands, I’ve learned that it’s considerably more difficult to sell a person/name than an idea. Believe it or not, not everyone in the world cares about who “Ryan Graves” is, however, everyone is interested in “living the dream”.

Tim Ferriss sells the idea of a ’4-Hour Work Week’, Ramit Sethi professes ‘I Will Teach You To Be Rich’, and I will show you that ‘The Dream In Action’ is not only ideal, but very possible. I truly believe that anyone can make their dreams realities and I’ll use this blog to track my efforts in that direction and help you spark yours. This blog has evolved from “regurgitated TechCrunch” to disjointed logs of travel, economics, startup lessons, startup reviews, and personal project updates. Many of these topics and posts will remain on the blog but the theme of putting your dreams into action in order to live a more profitable, more profound, and more positive life, will remain at the core.

Contest: I encourage you to share ideas and interact in the community forums (coming soon!). To start out I’d love to hear any story you have that could encourage us to put The Dream In Action. The person who submits the best story about putting life dreams into action in everyday life will win a $25 gift card to Amazon.

Use comments to submit your story. Winner will be selected June 1st, 2009.

One of the goals that I set when I first started writing on ActionsTalk is that 100 people would read the site in one day. Well finally, (a lot later than I thought) I reached that goal. On March 15th we had 132 unique visits to the site.

As you can see one day later there were 13 visitors, a 90% decrease in 24 hours. Sadly the 132 was a one day count hopefully with your help I can continue to write and post quality so that the number continues to grow.

Thanks for you help in achieving this small goal.

Really the topic of this post is: How to write attractive headlines for your blog posts.

Blog post titles are extremely important. It is the first thing that the reader sees in their RSS, SERP (search engine results page), or social bookmarking site. Also, your title is probably the number one thing that will affect a search engines ability to accurately categorize you post/site.

There are a few well know factors in writing blog posts and attracting readers to your site. As ActionsTalk is very young we have yet to build a substantial reader base but we are on our way.

Here are a few keys to quality blog post titles:

Post titles should paint a clear picture of the subject matter of the post (obviously I didn’t follow this very well here).

Post titles should entice the reader to continue reading the rest of your post.

Post titles should use keywords and phrases that will be picked up by search engines.

Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, and Youtube were all in the top 15 most search terms on Google this week. With this post title I will test the validity of the claims made in this post. Currently the site avgs. about 25 unique readers a day my guess is that this post title will shoot the unique reader number well above the avg. A post of the results of this test forthcoming.

Another interesting post on this issue found at CopyBlogger.com

I’ve started using Flickr to manage the images on this site. My intent is to improve the aesthetics of the site and of the posts. Flickr automatically imports the images in the style that you choose and was very easy to set up from there site. The Flickr “professional” was not needed to attain this feature. Any one with a camera and an internet connection can set up this free Flickr account. Not bad. I hope you enjoy the pics!
